Hastings & St LeonardsHastings the birth place of Britain. The landing place of William the Conqueror in 1066 and the setting for the battle of Hastings, this quaint, if somewhat run-down, seaside town sits on the South-East coast in the County of East Sussex. Hastings is a stones throw from London, Brighton, and Dover there is never a shortage of other places to go. Trains to London leave regularly from the train stations serving Hastings & St Leonards. Brighton and Dover are a short journey along the coast from Hastings in opposite directions. You could even fit in a day trip to France on one of the Dover ferry crossings!
