Hastings
town centre has been, and still is being rejuvenated. The old cricket
oval behind Hastings town hall was demolished and in it's place a modern
shopping centre was built. Featuring 50 shops in both a covered and courtyard
area it gave Hastings a much needed town centre shopping focus, and brought
some of the best known high-street names to the town! With it's own multi-story
car park and much of Hastings town centre pedestrianised it makes for
a relaxing day out!
With high-street names like Littlewoods,
Mothercare, BHS, Next, Ottakers, and many more everything you need from
a high-street can now be found in Hastings Town Centre!
The
history of Hastings town centre was not forgotten. In remembrance of the
cricket ground that once stood where Priory Meadow does now there stands
in the middle of the courtyard a sculpture of a cricketer and a plaque
which you can read below. Opened by the Queen in
1997 Priory Meadow has become a central focal point for Hastings town
centre.
